1. Total box-office revenue for 2008 counted up 194,836 million Yen, down 1.85% from the previous year. The highest record is 210,914 million Yen for 2004.
2. The total number of admissions again decreased 1.68% from 163,193 thousand to 160,491 thousand tickets.
3. The screen count continuously increased from 1,734 in 1933 to 3,359 last year.

5. Total box-office revenue for the Japanese films increased 22.4% to 115,859 million Yen.
In contrast, the foreign films decreased 24.02% to 78,977 million Yen. Breakdown of the total 194,836 million Yen is 59.5% for the Japanese films and 40.5% for the foreign films.
6. The total number of films released in Japan slightly decreased from 810 films to 806. However, the Japanese films released in Japan increased from 407 to 418 while the foreign films decreased from 403 to 388.
